My name is Sarah Sutphin and I am the artist behind Melting Flower - best known for my earthy, floral, and textured abstract oil paintings. I work using an alla prima technique with a focus on painting in an impasto style.

These paintings began as a yearning for more nature and greenery in my own life. Growing up as an only child in Ohio, many of my favorite moments were spent playing alone in the garden - exploring, climbing trees, and collecting insects. I believe that these small moments have had a lasting effect on shaping my imagination.

I went on to spend my twenties living the city life in Chicago only to find myself looking to connect with nature in any way I could. So, I quite literally surrounded myself with my own large floral landscapes and this is how Melting Flower was born.

I recently made the leap and moved to Merritt Island. I have a home with my very own backyard for the first time as an adult. Now surrounded by water and wildlife, I am looking forward to finally growing real life flowers and sharing my new found inspiration along the way.

I think many of us wish to be closer to nature in some way and with my Melting Flower collection of work, I hope to bring the essence of nature into everyday spaces.
